Summer is rapidly approaching, and with it we look forward to the end of most lockdown rules across the country. While holidays abroad may yet be unlikely; stay-cations, BBQ’s, and afternoons in the pub are on the horizon. Now it’s time to start planning how we can enjoy ourselves again as things return to something looking like normal!
With that in mind, now is the perfect time to think about updating your wardrobe. We’ve all been living in sweatpants and pyjamas for far too long, so with a summer of socialising hopefully just around the corner you may be thinking of getting in some new statement pieces and outfits. So what should you be looking for in summer 2021?
GQ, one of the biggest authorities on men’s fashion in the UK, picked out nautical-inspired themes and statement shirts as two key points for summer 2021. They also note that the overarching theme this year is one of ‘big and bold’. Similarly, Esquire chose the perennial Cuban Collar Shirt as a wardrobe essential this year, not just a trend.
There’s also a return to 70’s styles, continuing the trend from the last five or so years, with floral prints in particular making a comeback for this summer.
The authority in the fashion world, Vogue, have also announced their key styles for this summer. Some of the highlights include bright colours, big prints, and wider fits - be sure to check out the full list of trends here.
